Using QR Codes with Google Drive

A great marriage is made with QR codes and Google Drive.  By using a QR code, students can quickly access a Google form, doc, etc. on personal or campus devices.  Simply share the document in the SHARE settings, then use a QR code generator (Google "qr code generator" to find one) to create a QR code to print and display in a classroom, hallway, etc. or project onto a TV or screen.  Users can then use a QR reader app, such as QR Reader or Scan, to scan the QR code and access the Google form or doc.  This tip offers a quick and efficient way to get information out to students quickly.

Connectors in Google Drawings

Teachers are loving Google Drawing.  While in a Drawing document, explore the connector tools to create simple, yet effective graphics.

First, access Google Drawing by selecting NEW > MORE > GOOGLE DRAWINGS from your Google Drive window:

Next, explore the SHAPES tool:

Click and drag diagonally across the canvas to draw the selected shape:

To add text to the shape, select the shape and TYPE: 

Explore the formatting tools (for example, text alignment, size, color, fill and line color, etc.)  Now, add another shape:

Click the option arrow to the right of the line tool and select ELBOW or CURVED CONNECTORS:

Hover over a shape to see the connector points.  Click and drag from one point to another:

Importing Documents

Google Drive users can import Microsoft documents, PDFs, etc. into their drive.  When using Chrome, drag and drop the file into the DRIVE window.  If you want to edit the uploaded Microsoft Office document, right-click and select OPEN WITH to convert to a Google doc.  View a short how-to video:
