Troubleshooting Google on the iPad

When sharing iPads, it can be difficult managing multiple accounts on the same device.  When having students access Google forms, the iPad opens the browser to access the form URL.  In cases where teachers require students to login to view the form, the previous user needs to SIGN OUT.

If this step is missed on shared devices, users may remain logged in from within the browser. See the previous Google Tip Tuesday post, Logging Out of Google on an iPad, for directions on logging out while in the Google apps (compared to the browser - discussed here).

A quick and easy way to clear out the browsing history (which includes Google logins) is to start with the SAFARI PREFERENCES:
  1. Open the iPad's PREFERENCES
  2. Select SAFARI on the left side
  3. Select CLEAR HISTORY AND WEBSITE DATA on the right side

Now, when accessing Google in the SAFARI browser, the sign in form is cleared out:

Logging Out of Google on an iPad

On a shared iPad, the Google Drive app does not say sign off or log out like many of us are familiar with.  Instead, the app uses "Manage" and "Remove."  Follow the steps below to remove an account from a shared iOS device:

Click the MENU found in the top, left of the DRIVE app:
Tap the DOWNWARD facing arrow next to the username in the top, left corner:
Tap MANAGE ACCOUNTS:
Tap MANAGE:
Tap REMOVE to the right of the preferred username:
Tap REMOVE:
Tap the X to CLOSE the MANAGE window:

Chrome Basics Lessons 1 & 2 - Signing into Chrome and the Bookmarks Bar

The last time I changed laptops, it was such a smooth transition for me due to Chrome.  I logged into the Chrome browser and found all of my previous bookmarks, home pages, extensions, and most importantly, ways to cheat (I typed in half of a URL and Chrome filled in the rest for me using what's known as browsing data).  This quick, musical 1 minute video shows how Chrome can help you manage multiple devices by remembering your stuff.

Watch this 2 minute video on how to sign into Chrome for your desktop:
